A year ago, after being back from Iraq for a year, I found myself in a place of real need, and I didn’t feel comfortable going to the local VA hospital. I turned to the Returning Veterans Project because I wanted to be able to choose a counselor I thought I’d be comfortable with…RVP is great because they see you as a full person, and not just as a soldier. The most wonderful aspect about the program is that it gives you a choice, you don’t have to follow an order, you don’t have to wait until someone is assigned to you…which allowed me to finally take control of the most important healing I could do, the healing of the mind.
