In Honor of
Brian Simmons is an inspiring leader in civilian life as I can only imagine he was/is to his fellow Marines. I don’t know much about the time he served, but I do know he was protective of his team. This would be the same in civilian life. He lifts people up in business and all along their path. When faced with an opportunity Brian looks at how it could help others and the planet, not just he and his family. Of course he extends his family by holding friends and colleagues close and helping them in creative and thoughtful ways. Brian leads with an open mind, and an open heart. That’s not too say he isn’t tough and stubborn, but if you give him thorough information or a new perspective he changes his mind. He also admits to liking a strong debate, being stubborn, and on occasion wrong. He’ll thank you for your efforts and forgive you for your missteps. His leadership has extended to being a strong advocate for mental health. He has continued to save people by encouraging them to get help and checking in to make sure they are doing ok. He’s a strong, capable warrior who admits to taking too long to seek out help for himself. But having benefited from receiving mental healthcare he now works to ensure veterans and others in need see the strength in getting help, getting up, and reaching out. And he always checks-in.

Casey Casanova, 22, of McComb, Mississippi died May 2 in Karmah, Iraq, while supporting combat operations.
Casey was assigned to the Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 1, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
Casey was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a confidant—and a US MARINE for which she was incredibly proud. She was also my best friend, and she is never forgotten.
Casey loved strongly, trusted quickly, cared deeply, and gave selflessly. She had the singing voice of an angel and was passionate about dance. To know Casey was to know joy.
