Who Should Attend: This training is open to all RVP Volunteer Providers.

What You Will Learn:
This presentation will address clinical work in a case of military sexual abuse. Participants will have opportunity to ask questions, bring up issues and clinical questions in the training regarding their work.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand the difference between simple and complex PTSD.
  2. Be more aware of counter transference in sexual abuse cases.
  3. Be more aware of the differences between men and women’s responses to sexual abuse.
  4. Have a better sense of how the role of shame plays a part in treatment and outcome.
  5. Understand the difference between individual and group therapy.

CE Faculty Dr. Robert Cavasher

  • Doctorate from Boston College in Clinical Psychology, 1988.
  • Military Veteran, U.S. Navy 1966 - 1970.
  • RVP founding member and member of the MST Committee at VA-Portland.
  • Licensed in Oregon since 1994 and also licensed from 2008-2009 in Missouri.
  • Served as clinical director for the State of Missouri’s Prison program for sex offenders for two years.
  • Served on the Oregon Psychological Association’s Professional Ethics Committee for four years.
