Jessica Bradley, ODVA’s Women Veterans Coordinator will present on current issues and demographics specific to women veterans in Oregon.

Who Should Attend: This training is open to all RVP Volunteer Providers, social workers, mental health counselors, and community providers.
What You Will Learn:
Women veterans make up the fastest growing demographic in the VA, and yet many still face challenges in accessing resources, services, and benefits that they have earned through their military service. The presentation aims to give participants an understanding of women veterans culture, the ongoing barriers for women veterans, as well as provide demographics, statistics, and trends to increase awareness. The presentation will also highlight ways that the VA and ODVA (state veteran agencies) are working to overcome these barriers and challenges, through important advocacy programs, resources and partnerships.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this presentation, the learner will be able to:
- Have an increased awareness of the diverse culture and growing demographic of women veterans in Oregon.
- Understand barriers to accessing benefits and services that some women veterans still face.
- Know more about VA programs and partnerships that assist women veterans and their families to overcome these challenges.
CE Faculty
Jessica Bradley has served as the Women Veterans’ Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Veteran’s since February 2021. She retired from the Marine Corps in 2013 as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving 22 ½ years in both the enlisted reserve ranks and as an active duty officer. Her military career includes assignments overseas with 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, a combat deployment with 6th Engineer Support Battalion in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and assignments with 3rd Marine Logistics Group G-4 Staff, to include overseeing the initial implementation and training for Commanding General’s Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Program (SAPR) and later serving as a Regimental Executive Officer. Her various stateside assignments include tours with II Marine Expeditionary Forces, Marine Corps University and Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, Quantico Virginia where she helped develop service level transition programs for wounded, ill, and injured Marines and Sailors transitioning from active duty to veteran status. Throughout her career Jessica also served on senior staff and policy positions at Headquarters Marine Corps, Manpower and Reserve Affairs’ Personal and Family Readiness Division. She served as the TRICARE military health liaison for the Marine Corps, and later served on the Secretary of Defense’s joint task force on the review of DoD policies that restricted the assignment of women in the military.
Jessica is a native Oregonian. She attended Oregon State University and was an active member in the Naval Reserve Officer Training program. She graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Philosophy and received her commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps after completing Officer Candidate School. While in college, she enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves and completed Marine Corps Basic Training in Parris Island, S.C. in June 1990, serving as a drilling reservist until her commission in 1993. In addition to her Bachelor’s degree, she has a Masters in Business Administration and is finishing her doctoral studies in Education Leadership at George Fox University.
