Who Should Attend: This training is open to all RVP Volunteer Providers, social workers, mental health counselors, and community providers.
What You Will Learn:
Attendees will gain a better understanding of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and the various mental and physical health conditions that can result. Therapy treatment options, using a trauma informed approach, gender differences, hearing real survivor stories, and much more will be a part of this one-day introduction to MST.
Learning Objectives:
- Successfully define what constitutes MST by VA definition
- Identify gender differences in occurrence of MST, stats
- Identify what service connection is and the process of applying for service connection
- Explain the implications of military culture on therapy for MST related diagnoses
- Explain the impact of countertransference when the subject of therapy is sexual trauma
- Overview of treatment options for MST related diagnoses
- Identify MST related care options both in the VA & in the community (locally, nationally, and electronically)
