What You Will Learn:

This educational presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), delving into its symptoms, underlying causes, and the profound impact it can have on individuals. We will explore how various types of trauma contribute to the development of PTSD, examining both combat-related and non-combat-related trauma incidents commonly experienced by Veterans. Our discussion will highlight the current diagnostic criteria and assessment tools used to identify PTSD.

In addition to foundational knowledge, we will delve into effective treatment options tailored specifically for Veterans suffering from PTSD. This includes an in-depth look at evidence-based psychotherapies such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The presentation will also cover psychopharmacological interventions and their efficacy in managing PTSD symptoms. Furthermore, we will provide information about valuable resources available to Veterans and their families through the National Center for PTSD. By the end of this presentation, participants will have a well-rounded understanding of PTSD and be equipped with practical knowledge to support Veterans and their
loved ones in their recovery journey.
